This article to analyze the types of speech acts and the use of command directives performed by the mother and father characters in the movie “The Incredibles 2.” The research employed a qualitative descriptive method to identify, classify, and interpret the speech acts found in the film. The data were collected through observation and documentation of the movie’s dialogues, focusing on utterances that represent locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts as categorized by Austin and Searle. The findings show that five types of illocutionary acts were identified: assertives, directives, commissives, expressives, and declaratives, with directive speech acts particularly commands appearing as the most dominant. The analysis also reveals that parental commands in the movie are often expressed through figurative language, indicating that commands are not always literal but frequently convey emotional and moral nuances. Mr. Incredible tends to use direct and authoritative expressions, while Elastigirl prefers persuasive and gentle tones. These variations demonstrate how directive speech acts in the film function not only as verbal instructions but also as expressions of affection, care, and responsibility within family interaction. Overall, the study highlights that language in The Incredibles 2 serves as a medium for both communication and moral transmission in a family contextDownloads
