This thesis aims to analyze the key ideas in Nizar Qabbani's poem "Waiting for Godot" through a study of the metaphors and rhetorical figures used within it. The research employs textual analysis to explore how these rhetorical techniques enhance the emotional intensity and depth of meaning in the poem. The findings reveal 16 metaphors: 4 explicit metaphors, 7 implicit metaphors, and 5 illustrative metaphors, along with 3 types of Majaz Mursal with various relations. These rhetorical devices amplify the emotional power and bring out the deeper meanings of the poem. Through these figures of speech, Qabbani indirectly conveys the main ideas of the poem-despair, criticism of treacherous leaders, media criticism, and the sorrow and difficulty of life-thus giving the poem greater impact and resonance.Downloads
