Penerjemahan Istilah Budaya Dalam Novel Terjemah Laskar Pelangi

Abstract

This research aims to identify the categories of cultural terms in the novel Laskar Pelangi and their translation into Arabic, as well as to understand the translation procedures used by the translator in translating these cultural terms in the novel. This research is a descriptive qualitative study. The data source comes from the translated novel by Sukainah Ibrahim. The analysis results show that out of 13 cultural terms in the novel from chapters 1 to 10, 1 term can be categorized under ecology, 3 terms fall into the artifact/material category, 4 terms belong to the socio-cultural category, and 5 terms fall into the category of organization, ideas, and traditions. As for the translation procedures used by the translator, literal translation was used 3 times, transference was used 6 times, neutralization was used 2 times, and finally, additional notes were used 2 times.
