Abstract

Islamization in Southeast Asia is a long process that has lasted for centuries and has had a significant impact on the social, cultural and political life of people in this region. This article analyzes the spread of Islam through trade routes, da'wah, and cultural interactions in various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos. The research results show that although the process of Islamization is different in each country, there are similarities in the peaceful approach taken by the propagators of Islam. Islamic kingdoms such as Samudera Pasai, Demak, Malacca, and others played an important role in the spread of Islamic teachings and the formation of Muslim identity in Southeast Asia.
