Abstract

The Mappaenre Bunge myth is a traditional belief of the Bugis tribe which links the existence of the Mappaenre Bunge tradition with the emergence of disease. The Mappaenre Bunge tradition is considered to bring disease and bad luck to people who do not carry out this tradition. This myth has an impact on the health of the Bugis community, causing fear and anxiety and hampering efforts to prevent and treat disease. This research is directed towards cultural anthropology which seeks to understand how culture forms, develops and changes over time. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method starting from the interview process to direct observation. The results reveal the myths contained in the Mappaenre Bunge tradition, including a belief that developed in Tappale Village and has become a tradition passed down from generation to generation. The factors that influence the beliefs of the mappaenre bunge tradition are economic, social and health factors.
